Hi! I’m Carmelina. Thank you for stopping by my boutique.  Let me share a little about myself to give you some insight into who I am.  I am a daughter, sister, wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and most recently a creator and entrepreneur.  I live in Herndon, VA with my Icelandic husband (long story - I'll explain how we met in one of my blogs), my beautifully spirited daughter, two wonderful step-sons, my precious 3-year old grandson, two high-strung dogs, a cat and, YES, it's a full and busy household.

The start of my creative journey happened by chance.  According to the left-brain right brain theory, my right-brain (which I will call Lina) lay dormant for years to be outdone by the left side of my brain (whom I shall refer to as Carmen).  As a result, I spent most of my career within the technology industry in analytical positions.  I’ve always enjoyed math and have always been an analytical thinker so it was no surprise that my career evolved they way it did.  That is until I inadvertently discovered my creative side.  While taking a hiatus from work, I was looking for a hobby I could explore to help relieve stress and happened upon a jewelry making video on YouTube.  Little did I know that 'Lina' would finally break through the surface and introduce herself to 'Carmen', who, luckily embraced her with open arms.

Until this time, I did not realize that this side of me existed and how much I would enjoy “creating”.  I first started with wire wrapping jewelry which led into the art of resin and polymer clay.  Later on, I stumbled upon a Paper Quilling video and was instantly hooked.  I’ve found some unbelievably astounding works of art done with paper.  One artist that really caught my eye was Yulia Brodskaya, who was featured in an article on My Modern Net.  Her work is phenomenal and has been such an inspiration in my quest to master this type of paper art.
